A Darker Place {Poem}

The tall trees whispered sinisterly
As the Sun’s vacant gaze
Turned into a looming glare
And the leaves murmured amongst themselves
Far too exposed on the branches
Whose claws reached to the peaceful blue in vain

Unlike those further back
Hiding in the shadows of the front line
Lurking with a dark stare
While birds mask snide remarks in sweet song

  1. I have never been a fan of poetry but since I met Philip Larkin’s poems, my whole experience has changed. Then I started to read Andrew Motion, Frank O’Hara(…) This poem of yours -like others- the simplicity, modesty, and strength in your words, reminded me of his style. Keep writing! x

  2. I noticed you’d read one of the poems on my blog so came to read some of yours, they’re very good at conveying emotion. I’m following now and just wanted to say, you do have a story and it, and yourself, are anything but irrelevant. ❤

  3. Very good poem, I enjoyed. I also read your piece about school closures etc. and found that engaging. I am glad to see that I am not the only student with a poetry blog!
